Can you give us a little more detail.
There is really nothing behind the front dash panel, that should be rattling.
Are you referring to the floorboard area?

FYI, the PDI service from most dealers is not very good, I would check all fluid levels.
It's just below the center storage compartment in the dash. The plastic dash wraps underneath and creates a loose flap. If I hold on to it it stops. I think I'm gonna have to wedge something between the two plastic pieces.
Does holding onto the steering wheel stop the noise?
No it doesn't

pull the console out. T25 torx should work on the two screws on bottom of the console and then push down on top two corners of center part and then you'll be able see behind area you are saying its coming from.
Might have to add a screw to the area or like you said add a insulator between the panels. Foam of some sort like weather stripping works good or rubber. These 900's for the most part are rather quiet but are made of a lot of plastic and need a tweak or two to make them your own. I found some small screws missing on my machine after going over it. Enjoy
Check all bolts and push darts. Make sure they are all there. I got my ranger home and went over everything. Found a bunch of loose bolts. My roll cage actually creeks when I drive. I put rubber pieces in between the cage and still rattles. Enough to make me crazy.
Mine did that really bad when I got it. My dash had about 3"more gap to it than my dad's 900 that did not rattle. My wife took it up to the dealer for me while I was at work during the week. They told her it was "missing a part"and fixed it up for her in 15 minutes. She called amd told me and I thought that was a quick fix. I get home from work to discover that "missing part" was just a piece of foam they cut and glued to the dash between the two pieces of plastic. I was pretty mad that they fixed my new machine I paid all that money for by using a piece of scrap foam. My wife made me drop it though since it did fix the issue. I think the dash was warped from the factory. I'd take it the dealer amd all for a new dash that isn't warped. Don't send your wife though! :)
