After Wingnut posted last night he lucked up and found a dealer who had one, I decided to call the 10 dealers or so who were close enough to drive to (1.5 hours away or less). I thought I had lucked out on my third call to a dealer in Hendersonville, NC who had one, but then the sales manager informed me it was sold since Feb., and his next 3 coming were as well. I called 4 or 5 more and they all said, coming next week, or 2 weeks, but sold, or had already gotten and sold the one that they received. I kind of gave up (since I did need to actually pay attention to my job![}:)]). An hour or so later the girl who answers the phone at the store had a visit from her husband who was off for the day. She mentioned it to him and he said what about Mega Motorsports in Toccoa, GA? I told him I thought they probably had 10 presold slots by now, but I decided to call them. A guy named Clay answered the phone and I asked him if he knew if they would be getting any and he said "I have one right now!". I asked if it was sold and he said "it can be if you want it". I was suspicious since I thought he was either mistaken about what I was looking for (Ranger instead of RZR) or that it was presold and he did not know it (since that happened an hour before in Hendersonville. After making sure it was a RZR for sale, I had only one other reservation: Price. I do not mind paying sticker, but I am very ethically opposed to paying setup/freight, etc. since it's all profit and a "profit padder" for the dealer. I also thought he might say they wanted $12000 for it, like some others here have heard. He said $10000 even out the door. I gave him a credit card for the deposit, and Karey's husband was nice enough to drive the hour or so each way with the check to pick it up. At 5:00 my truck pulled it with her loaded up for the even $10000 he agreed to. The reason they had it apparently was that they got it last week, but only got the steering parts installed yesterday so today was the first time it was out for sale. He told me they have another coming next week not sold, so if anyone in the GA/TN/NC/SC area wants one, call and ask for CLAY! Please make sure you tell him Matthew from ATV OUtfitters referred you!!
Also, I still have my deposit with the other dealer who should have mine next week, so I will be willing to sell it to if someone is looking. I would just need to work it out since he has my deposit and he is keeping #2 for himself. He might move himself to the #1 spot if I cancel instead of letting another customer have a shot, since he was hooked after he got a test drive a week after I had put my deposit down. I would likely have been #2 myself had he test driven it earlier.

PS- A RZR will fit a shortbed Chevy truck bed just fine!

That's great Matt. Now we can look forward to answers about tires and wheels etc.

Yes, I am not sure if I will get to ride at Brimstone this weekend (I hate to be closed on a Saturday without notice, even though it's a holiday weekend, and it's only 3 hours), but if not, I plan on doing some test fitting if there's not too many calls or walk-in customers. If it is busy or if I do decide to take the day off, it might be Monday or Tuesday before I can get some definitive answers. Any particular requests?

At the risk of sounding like a broken record: [;)]
Measure and post the width and offset of the stock steel rims, front and back.
Measure & post the offsets of any rims that should work on the Rzr.

I just need enough facts to make an intelligent decision on wheel fitment.

Matt, let us know if you are going to Brimstone. I was back and forth on going but if you are going to have the RZR there, then my decesion is easy. The place will be covered up with Rhino's and I thought about taking my Ranger to drag a few of them around on the tug of war just for fun.

Mamasan said no. Since she is at the beach, I would have to leave my 4 yr old girl at home (I would bring my boy with me). She has never spent the night without at least her brother, and very few without mommy, so the fear was that she would have major withdrawal at bedtime. I can go next weekend, and may do so if I can round up a few guys (everyone I know is going this weekend though!)

There is a big ride about 15 minutes north of Brimstone next weekend, the "rooster scratch run". It should keep many of the locals out of Brimstone. Let me know what you are thinking, i was planning on a ride somewhere next weekend.
