I remember seeing a post where there was a lot of discussion about using Lucas Oil instead of Polaris Oil. Someone had asked if there was a definitive list of exactly what products to use for what in the Ranger.

I do not remember if we ever saw the ending list or not and cannot find the post in the search. It is getting to the time where all my fluids need to be changed and this would be something I would like to explore but a good list of what to use would be a huge help!

Any tips on a good place to purchase Lucas Oil would be good too. On-Line stores work well or larger retailers/Auto supply stores that normally would carry this stuff. Being so remote makes it pretty hard for me to find stuff sometimes!

Also any thoughts on Amsoil Vs Lucas Oil

This should help get you started, but I know Dwayne will chime in when he can.

Go to this website and look at most of there product. http://www.lucasoil.com/products/index.sd

I know several products are not listed for example one is the 0w40 synthetic.

Here is a list of what I am currently running but like I said, I know Dwayne will post more info soon.

Front and Read Diff - I am running 75/90 with synthetic stabilizer
Tranny - ATF
Engine - 0w40 with synthetic stablizer

I do know that 5/20 synthetic engine oil works great in the rear ends as well.

As far as where to get it I know the following, but there are many more.

NAPA
O'Rielies
Pep Boys
Auto Zone
Advance

I hope this helps you.

ok alright here we go. Anywhere you would use the polaris angle drive fluid use the Lucas 75/90 syn gearoil part #10047 in place of it. In the engine Lucas 0w40 syn part #10718. In the trans use either Lucas semi-syn sure shift trans fluid part #10052 with 20% lucas syn oil stabilizer part #10130 or use lucas 5/20 syn motor oil Part # 10082. Most NAPA, carquest, O riely, or Dixie Chopper dealers either have or can obtain these for you.

Hey John you could switch over to a totally syn trans fluid. I myself prefer a combo or a semi-syn. The reason being most syns are made to "fall or run off parts" leaving them somewhat dry. On the other hand the petro or mineral bases can not take the heat. That is why at this time we mostly sell the sure shift syn atf. It will take the heat and protect the components at the same time.

OK Guys everyone here is now setup for discounts and shipping direct. Call Josh Hunter at Lucas Oil Products Inc. 1800-342-2512 tell them you are a member. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask myself or Freddy. I am sorry for not being here as much as normal, but as you know to play we have to work to pay for toys. Best wishes to all. Thanks Dwayne (I will be here more often again)

Hey guys we have just finished testing a new tranny fluid for vt drives and it works great. As soon as we have it bottled I will post it for you. Thanks Dwayne

Thanks for the info Dwayne.
Will this tranny fluid be better than the semi-syn sure shift trans fluid? Also do you still recommend adding the 20% lucas syn oil stabilizer to the tranny?

Final question: Does Lucas still carry a 0W-40 synthetic Motor Oil? I looked for it last time I was in town and the dealers didn't have it listed in their parts book and I didn't see it listed on the website????

This tranny fluid is the cats meow! Unless you are running extreme heat or water there will be no need for stabilizer. After 100 hours of abuse, we tested this and it still is great. It also reduced noise and temps. I will be sending this out to the Rebel Rangers to try it out and get their feed back. If anyone can abuse it, it is them.LOL have fun riding Dwayne

I noticed you are using the same oil for both front and rear. When I drained my front it was a lot thinner. Would using a thicker oil be an issue?

I would only use what POLARIS calls for. I thnik its called demad drive fluid. 2871654
The front diff. is a locking diff. and needs the special fluid for positve engagment and release.
