A buddy of mine has a 09 700 HD, oil leaked out of the dipstick where enters the block, the bolt to the flange that holds the dipstick was really loose. barely showed on the dipstick.

The rubber between the fuel injection unit and intake was cracked most of the way around and was allowing air/dust? in the engine.Could have been ran for awhile with boot cracked, dusty conditions AZ desert.

We tightened dipstick, changed the oil/filter ,he replaced the intake boot . Drove it for awhile ,started had a real high pitch squeal shut off the engine, oil barely on the dipstick, cant tell where it was forced out of?

What would be the best options?

Maybe rebuild?
New or used engine?
Same 700?

Thanks for any advice.

A rebuild is fairly expensive, but not hard to do. I would price out a replacement engine from our sponsors, or check ebay for 2010 and older 700s and 800s from Rangers and sportsmans. If you go 800 you will need the ECU.
