New Crew, maybe

I just sold my 08 XP, and am in the market for either a 900 Crew, or Yamaha Viking VI.
I'd love to hear any and all reasons why I should or should not get another Ranger. I came from a Mule, then a 2004 Rhino, to the 2008 Ranger because I need the bigger machine.

My Rhino was bulletproof, my Ranger was bulletproof, and I'm JUST starting to look......heck, the fun is the shopping, no?

What I just sold...... Speedometer Tachometer Auto part Vehicle Gauge
Land vehicle Vehicle Car Motor vehicle Automotive wheel system
Land vehicle Vehicle Motor vehicle Car Automotive tire
Vehicle Steering wheel Wheel Automotive tire Tire
Electronics Vehicle audio Cd player Technology Media player

I have my first ATV/UTV. I only read from forums on the different brands and chose the 2014 Ranger 900 crew, and 15 months later, I would not look at any other brand, or model for that matter.
Geaux Tigers...maybe next year.

Looks like a nice unit you sold there.

The dad blame Tigers are gonna be ON FIRE next year.....:playful:

I was the original owner of that ole 2008......that hour meter was correct......less than 180 hours. My friends that got it to enjoy with their kids got a good 'un!!!

I am just starting to shop......I'm 50/50 on either the Ranger or Viking at this point, and want some real world feedback. Mechanical things are not perfect, and I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty. I just want some good/bad scenarios from you guys that wheel them daily.

This season for the Tigers reminded me of the '70's when I was in school there. Well, I can't tell you much at this juncture as my Ranger Mid-size Crew 570 EPS won't be delivered until next week. Living in Colorado now, the trails here are pretty narrow so the mid-size was my choice. If I still lived on our farm in Louisiana, it would be a full size crew. My previous experiences have been with Honda and Kawasaki so I can't speak to the Viking or the Ranger at this point.

I did a little tenure there from '83-'87, and played a little ball for those guys.

Still live within 15 minutes of Death Valley.....nearly in the shadows. They afforded me a degree in civil engineering, and I gave them all I had.

My my ole knees and hips are paying that price now!!! I did my tenure under Stovall, Arnsparger, and Archer......

enjoy that new crew, my friend!!!

Good to hear you played there...sorry to hear about your knees and hips, coming from a guy that just got his left knee replaced last year LOL.
On the subject of a Viking to a Ranger, I just saw a reference to that on this forum: "I did the same Ed....I didn't do my research and bought the 800....sold it out right...Then went shopping again. I'm not a speed demon , was looking for quite... no heat under the seat issues. I tried out the 570. It was loud. And I didn't think much power either.(my opinion of course)
Then the 900...then the 900 ESP...I figured I'd have the machine for years...I got the 900 EPS. The same shop sold the Yamaha Viking , IF you want an eye opener as far as noise goes...Please Try One...you'll go running to the nearest Polaris dealership..."

Also a 900 crew 6 seater will be available anytime now for the same coin as the 5 seater. I think I would prefer to have the full bench seat versus having individual bucket style seating in the viking. The ranger would have more get up and go. Best bet is to find a dealer that will let you do a good long test ride and not just putt putt around the parking lot. Get a good feel for the acceleration, interior noise, and ride quality. Expensive purchase so take your time and pick which feels the best for you.

Man alive!!!

Wouldnt it be great if they all had a weekend demo model......I'd pay good money for a THAT!!!
Man, that was a SUPER clean '08!

Not knocking the Viking because they are a "decent" machine, but do yourself a favor and test drive the Crew before buying.

Yea, I took pretty good care of that one.....they are too expensive to beat the heck out of them,no?

Im gonna try them both a good bit before I buy one. I never had a problem outta that Ranger, except one battery....and I prolly used up the original because of cranking the tunes out on the stereo......lol.
I have the 2015 Crew 900 White Lightening. Love the five seater. I've always found the bench seats to be tight for 3 people with even a little junk in their trunks. 3 skinny butts might fit alright.... but, we don't have any of those. I put one of those removable center consoles in my 2010 800XP/LE - liked having it so much that I was happy to find the 5 seater crew with a center console already built in. Love the 900 Crew power and handling. Will eventually do something to up my ground clearance some.
