Hello, I just joined a couple of days ago and have been enjoying reading old posts and seeing what others have done to their Rangers. I bought a 2015 Ranger 570 Full Size for use at our retirement home in NC which we just finished building. We haven't sold our:05.18-flustered: FL home yet so we are in both places currently, but once we are moved I hope to be able to both learn more about Rangers and possibly pass on something useful to others. I do machine work as a hobby so I'll be making parts and building some of my own accessories.
Thanks to all for contributing to an active and great site.

Welcome. And here I was thinking people left other states to retire to Florida, go figure a fellow Ranger owner would do things a little out of the ordinary! Haha. I'm looking forward to see what you have planned for yours.

Thanks all for the hearty welcome. If there 's one thing I enjoy it's a friendly forum.

Texas, being born and living in S. FL for 61 years I've seen a lot of changes, most of which have been for the worse. Like all larger cities we have more crime and crowding than I want to live with and the fishing isn't what it once was. I'm also really tired of the heat, sweating while just standing in the shade isn't much fun. I don't really know how I tolerated it all these years. Our new place in NC is at 3700 feet and in summer it may get to 85 for a couple hours then retreats to an AC like mid 70s. The winters are colder for sure, but I can always put on another layer, there's only so much you can take off to col down in FL before you either embarrass yourself or the cops come. Besides, snow is a new adventure for me ad with the new Ranger I can plow the driveway.

There is actually a saying for people who move from Florida to NC. It's called half backs. Generally meaning people who left the north NY/PA/etc and moved to FL, then moved to NC, halfway back. I discovered this when my dad got a second home in NC and noticed so many people there from FL. So I asked why so many are from FL.

Yeah I've heard that expression, and much worse. Fortunately for me I don't qualify as a halfback since I am a FL native as is my Dad who also is now in NC at 86 years old. There are intruders and newcomers. The intruders don't want to fit in and expect others to change to accept them, newcomers try to fit in and be regular folks. Just like anyplace, natives seem to resent "intruders" and newcomers initially, however if you treat people right and try to fit in you are eventually accepted. Biggest problem with S. FL is that the newcomers don't want to fit in. Many want to keep their cultures and expect others to change to accept them. Not all are that way of course, there are some really good people who are also newcomers to S FL, but many of them can't wait until the day they can leave too.
