Hello PRC members. I have been reading through this great forum for weeks now. I have decided to purchases a 15' 900XP EPS in the very near future. My family owns 300 acres in rural British Columbia and they own a 2011 Ranger 500. I've used it numerous times and have always been impressed by it's capabilities!!! I can't begin to imagine how much more impressed I'll be with a 900 :)

I've been looking at a few modifications I want to make as soon as I take possession. If someone could give any advice/feedback I would really appreciate it. Either way, look forward to being part of this community.

Looking at a 2" highlifter lift, forward a-arms, and 14x7 wheel with 28x10x14 Moto MTC tires - Do I need to worry about clutch issues and axle issues with this setup? From what I have read, this should be 'at the limit' for a stock drivetrain.

Would a 3" lift add much more stress to the drivetrain components and is a 28 still the right size choice, or should I consider a 30" tire?

Will the lift and tires affect high speed stability much or are wheel spacers something to consider to give a slightly wider stance?

Once again, thanks guys! -BCB

I installed a super atv 3" lift and 28" terminators last week on mine. I love having more ground clearance and the way it drives in low, but in high anything over about 30mph it drives terrible. I have a feeling a belt won't last very long in high anyway. The bad high speed handling may just be due to the terminators as they aren't much of an all terrain tire.

I've got the satv 3" lift with 26" bighorns. Tires are not as big as what yall are running but no issues at any speed and no axle problems. I also have 1-1/2" wheel spacers.

Welcome to PRC, BCB! Personally, I'd be slow to make the changes you described. Let the 500 you have been driving be your guide. Although the 900 is going to give you a better ride, there are very few places it will go that the 500 couldn't! You are wise to limit your lift to 2"--that will have only a minimal effect on your suspension components. However, unless you are just going after the bling factor, using the bigger wheels won't buy you much. Using the same size tires all around will have some effect on your steering although with the EPS, you won't notice much if at any at all. There will be more stress on your steering components but I imagine that will also be minimal. Just remember, the higher the lift and the bigger the tires, the more stress you are putting on your machine and you WILL be altering the center of gravity and other driving characteristics of the machine! I'd run it stock for a while then make the changes your environment dictates. Good luck with the new machine!

With the forward A-arms you won't even need a lift with 28's. You might start there and decide if you want to add a lift after a week or two. I've run a 2" lift of my 900 and it's doesn't over stress the suspension. Drivetrain damage is entirely dependent on if you want to go through the mudhole with the throttle to the floor or ease through it. 3" lift is not necessary at all to run 30's with fwd a-arms and a 2" lift.
