Hi guys. Working on my buddys xp1000, 2021 model.

First the issue was a miss . He told me about it, replaced spark plug.
Still missing.
Put Fuel injector cleaner in it today. Took it for a ride still misses on acceleration.

It seemed to start after it warmed up to 169 degrees.
Drove it more trying to work the cleaner through the gas etc..

Then it quits.. Just stalls out. Temperature on the digital gauge was reading 210 degrees. We sat there and watched it heat soak up to 221 degrees.
Waited abiout 5 minutes and it started. Drove it straight back, coasting where we could and not getting on the throttle..
Temp was hovering about 194-196.

It doesnt throw any codes.
I dont know enough about these machines to help much. Im thinking thermostat or water pump. Its just crazy to me because its so new.

But the miss i think is a total seperate issue.

Your advice is appreciated, especially if you have had these same issues.

If no codes, how did you know it was a miss?

Second, I've had to replace the throttle position sensor, basically the gas pedal due to similar issues.

I have had my machine throw a false misfire code and another run rough because I unknowingly cracked the porcelain on the plug but both threw a misfire code. The ecm can definitely detect that issue well and sometimes too well. My 2 cents is if it was misfiring one of three codes should appear.

Test the fuel pressure. 58psi +/- 2psi is spec.

Pressure should jump to 58psi by just turning the key on and hold with no bleed back.

First thing that I would be checking is the fuel pressure. As RJ said, 58 psi.

A max of 210 is acceptable but they usually get to about 206 before the fan cools them down. When the engine is running and the fan is cycling seeing the gauge creep up to 221 after turning off the key is normal. Temperature hovering at 196 is great. The cycle is 194-204.

Thank you, I wasnt sure . This seemed high to me and i thought i could be some kind of high temp shut down mode. When it stalled out.

Might sound strange but my 2018 870 crew would run and shut down as if key got turned off. I had an accident hit a tree few days earlier and front receiver was touching radiator caused very small leak and ran out of water. Nothing indicated running hot my mechanic friend was with me checked water finding out I had none. Added water ran fine. Fixed everything since put stop leak in has ran great since

Ok well to wrap this up.. The temperature thing was a non factor. He took the fuel pump out inspected it then put it back in. Then played with the fuel line. Squeezed it. He said that fixed it. He said it seemed like the fuel line was clogged somehow. . SHRUG.. sorry no definitive answer.
