I picked up a new 2015 Polaris Ranger 900 XP a couple of weeks ago and figured it was about time I join up.

A little background: I grew up on Yamaha's... my grandpa had 'em, my parents had 'em and when I got serious about the ATV game I bought a 2012 Yamaha Grizzly. Good reliable machines that I never had any problems out of. I had a lot of fun on it, but decided it was time for a side x side. I tried to hold off because I just knew that Yamaha was going to come out with something that could compete with Polaris and Can-Am, ha!! So I decided to test drive the Viking (how did that thing get through engineering QA/QC tests?). It shook like crazy while idling, it was extremely loud and just didn't have the power that I wanted. So I decided on the Ranger 900 XP model with EPS. I couldn't be happier with my decision, I've been on a couple of rides so far and found a lot of excuses to put it to work around the house.

I decided to join this forum over some of the others because as I have been doing research over the past few months trying to make my final decision I always found myself arriving on this forum, either for information or inspiration as to what I want to build. So thank ya'll for unknowingly helping me make my decision. I'm looking forward to learning and eventually contributing some knowledge back as well.

I'm still trying to finalize my plans, but right now I'm stuck somewhere between a 3" lift with 32" tires to 5" lift with 34" tires, we'll see. Plus all the regular goodies like the windshield, roof, snorkels, winch, etc. Already have the harness override from Dragonfire on the way.

And what's a forum without a couple of pictures...

And just for kicks here is my Grizzly before I sold it.

Thanks for the welcomes everybody. I've already gotten some great info on here, I will be making some mud blockers hopefully before my next ride. Should shave a good thirty minutes off of my clean up time.

The Dragonfire harness override looks like it is being held up by the bad weather up north. I'm not opposed to wearing the seat belts while riding, but I just don't like being forced to. The other day I got bogged down, so I got out to start pushing while my girlfriend slid over to give it some gas. Ended up having to be pulled out only to realize that she didn't buckle up, so it wasn't working as hard as it could to get itself out.

Thanks trog.

Harness override came in today so that should add a little convenience to the ride. The couple of rides that I went on so far really took a toll on the plastics. Because I'm not capable to go through some of the deeper areas (yet) I spent a lot of time going around. That involved bailing off through some brush, over some trees and anything else in the way. The fenders and hood have taken some serious scrathes to be less that a month old. In fact in the pictures above you can see that it almost looks flat red. I picked up some Maxima SC1 "Clear Coat" yesterday and put it on some of the plastics yesterday and it really seemed to help out. Plus it's supposed to really make clean up easier with the silicone coating that it applies.

I'm debating on heading to Sabine ATV Park in Burkeville to ride Saturday, but may just end up going to the deer lease by the house and riding. Who knows...
