These are 7075 and hard coated with all new rollers etc assembled. The SATV is 6061 and is only the carrier and nothing else.

So what's considered to be the root cause(s) of the front diff problems? I tore mine apart last night and with 1000 miles on it the internals look new. The roller cage, bearings, pinion and ring gears, ect all look great. The input bushing in the case is a little worn which I'll have to source since it's not sold separately. I change the fluid pretty frequently, around every 25 hrs iirc. I also never yank people out with a strap, I always winch to avoid shock loading the trans or diffs. Maybe it makes a difference, maybe it doesn't.

From all the reading I've done it sounds like the biggest problem is the frame flexing which flexes the case and breaks it. I'm making a heavy duty steel plate to tie the front and side of the case together and add additional mounts to the frame to keep from pulling the diff out of the four factory bolts. That should fix any issues with case flex.

The input bushing is a wear item but easy to replace. I'm not a huge fan of the plastic pinion cap but I can't find anyone who makes a billet cap.

Aside from the roller cage there's not much to fail inside.

thoughts?

Root cause on mine each time has been a heavy right foot and bouncing or hopping the 31" front tires on either roots or rocks with extreme prejudice! I have a billet case so the flex part is gone. I have not had time to pull mine apart to inspect this time but it sounds exactly like when I grenaded my carrier the first time.

The cage is what I'm breaking.

Looks like a winner to me! In their description, it says, "This is the last carrier you will ever have to buy. LIFETIME WARRANTY!" Sounds like the last Sprague you'll ever have to pay for!

Makes sense!!

Well, I just ordered one off ebay. As soon as it gets here I'll post some close up comparison pics with it next to the factory cage.
I will waiting to see that. I have a few weeks yet before I will be able to be home and work on mine so I have not ordered yet.

Well..that certainly has a lot more meat there then factory...it must have 30-40% more material. I think Polaris parts are 'just' good enough to work...but not good enough to last. If they were made too good...think of the $$ they would lose.

Thanks for posting that! Just what I needed to see, I just ordered one. This one has to be much stronger. On both of my others, it seemed like the first thing that happens is the carrier cracks on one side. The front end will still work until it gets put into a little bind again and it seems like the carrier, being cracked on one side, acts like a spring. It holds everything together until enough stress is on it and then after it flexes the crack open a few more times, it breaks completely apart. One think for sure, I will test it and see how strong it is, lol.

Expat, I'm curious about your Booger's Toxic Toys Billet front diff, did it come with an upgraded cage or did they use the OEM one?

Well my stock one was destroyed to begin with so they put a billet one in. I am guessing it was one they made and maybe was not hardened or as strong as they may have thought. Granted, I was trying to climb over some rocks that I probably should have winched over at the time that it "popped" and the front tires did bounce and hop before I let out of the gas. I have some questions out to BTT right now and will post pictures of whats left of my broken carrier along side of the Niche one in a couple of weeks when I get the chance to install it.

I guess the good news is you didn't destroy your BTT diff! I'll be interested to see how your new cage works out.

I am looking into getting the billet diff for my Ranger and RZR. I just ordered the SATV carrier. I would have bought this one had I known it was available.
