My stock battery finally quit holding charge for very long so I went with the Odyssey 925 LMJ battery. The Odyssey has major power and fits in the stock battery box. The battery when set up on end and dropped into the plastic box also puts the positive and negative posts back in the stock locations. You can see in the post I trimmed a small amount of plastic off of each corner to make it easier to hook up the cables. Hope this information helps anyone thats considering a new battery.

I'll try to take another picture tonight and get it posted. I've only started it once but boy did it start! [:D].

Question? how long does a battery last in a ranger. And why not put the same battery that comes for the rangers. Do you need bigger batteries because of your lighting setup.

Factory Battery life can vary. Lucky if you get a year out of them.Three of us bought Rangers about the same time. Out of the three mine is the only one running with the OEM battery. All of the Rangers are just a little over one year old. They often fail prematurely. The Oddessey Battery is great OEM replacment and offers a much longer battery life.

Roadrunners answer was right on the money.
In a nutshell the stock OEM battery seems to be a piece of "Doo-Doo". The odyssey will last a LOT longer and will run more accessories ie.. MORE POWER!

on my ds650, the stock battery crapped out real fast. i replaced it with another stocker, and it went within 2 months. I then replaced it with the odyssey battery, and have been rocking it for 3 years!!! never dead, even though it has sat in the garage for 2-3 month intervals @ 110 degrees sometimes

when my stocker goes in the ranger, you can bet that I will go with the odyssey

I still have orginal battery,

But I have a second battery, which is a yellow top.

No trouble, so far.

I use my ranger almost every day.

05Xp with 535hrs.

How did you hook up the Yellow Top with the OEM battery? Just simply in parallel, or some fancier arrangement?

If in parallel, any issues with charging both together, being they are much different?

Just got mine from West Coast Batteries for less than my local dealer quoted me on a new stock battery from Polaris!

Chiefmorton - thank you for such an excellent article on solving a problem many of us have. My battery quit after 13.6 hrs of use. The dealer said "They have had some problems with these maintenance free batteries - not much, but some." The dealer replaced with a vented battery. I have ordered the Odyssey battery as recommended by you and your responders. Thanks again.
