Does anyone have a recommendation for a replacement OEM bench seat for my 2009 Polaris Ranger XP? The plastic pins for my OEM seat have worn out my patience so I am in dire need to find a good seat replacement that does NOT use those inferior plastic pins and doesn’t break the bank.

I hear Polaris is coming out with a repair kit for the bench seat but if they really had an engineer they would have never designed this junk in the first place.

I agree. I don't know what they were thinking when they chose to change to plastic prongs. I'm surprised that ALL of them don't break. :?

I own a business that makes Motorcycle seats. I will look at making a replacement bench seat for the Polaris. It shouldnt be that difficult. I know I could make one for a LOT less than the Polaris one. That price is insane! John
That would be cool! I'd like a reasonably priced bench seat to put in the back of mine for the kids. The old boat seats are getting pretty worn out and I really don't wanna fork over $600 or $700 for a Beard seat.

Commander,

Check with side by side sports. I was looking at replacing my rear buckets with a bench and they had the black beard 52" bench on sale for $299.
Thanks for the info'......that's a great deal compared to the last time I priced them. Any idea where they are located? Just wondering about how bad shipping would be, since that's a pretty large item.

You can go to a junkyard where school buses or larger 17 or so passenger vans are located and nab a seat on the cheap, then have it recovered to suit your tastes. The bus seats unbolt from the legs on the aisle side and are bolted to a lip on the window side. All you would need to do is add a mounting system. Some of the smaller school buses even have seat belts that are mounted to the seats.

I just joined this site. Did you make a replacement bench seat for the Ranger 900 XP? My stock bench seat is a killer on my back. Poor design and no reasonably priced SOFTER & better ergonomic replacement that I can find. I am beginning to hate my Ranger purchase just because of the front seat. And, I don't care about the middle seat. Is there a replacement with a console in the middle?

I haven't looked closely at the pins that stick down on the OEM seat, however if I had the pins break one thing I would look at first is making my own pins from stainless steel carriage bolts with the threads removed where the pin enters the whole leaving threads only about 3/8" or so down from the head of the carriage bolt for a jam nut. If the seat cover and padding are removed you might be able to drill out where the original pins were and install the aforementioned SS pins in their place using a nut on the bottom of the seat to hold the pin in place. Seats cost way too much money not to attempt a repair before replacement, for me anyway, and the SS pins would never break again unlike the pins on a new seat.

Welcome to the forum lebrecque. You might try taking your seat to an upholstery shop. They should be able to fix you up.

If I remember correctly, my seats pins are metal. I'll have to double check on that to be sure. But my problem isn't the pins. About two or three years ago I was cleaning and going over the Buggy getting it ready for hunting season. Once I had the seat off I had it flipped over to check it out, and I noticed that the plastic part of the seat was cracking around the pins. So that meant when I went to lift the seat up to remove it, the pins were staying tight and the plastic was stressing and starting to break. So now when I go to remove the seat I pull it up a little and give a liberal spray of WD-40 around the pins. Then I use a straight pry bar to lift it up. Two weeks ago I had Nasal surgery. Had Polyps removed and septum fixed. But in the next week or so I'll be given the Buggy a good cleaning, and doing a couple projects I have in mind. Yippee!!
