Passenger requirements? Owner's Manual Check?

Thanks in advance. I called Polaris and they told me to call the dealer. My dealer hasn't gotten a RZR in yet, so they don't have a manual. I'm looking for the minimum specs as stated in the manual for passengers in the RZR. For example, the Ranger says a passenger must be 5 years old. The Rhino says a passenger must be able to grab the hand grib on the roll cage while belted, etc. I need to know what the manual specifically says regarding the RZR passenger.

Last year I bought a CAN AM MAX 800 so that my son and I could ride the Hatfielf McCoy system in WV. The HM rules are written to say "no passengers are allowed on any ATV UNLESS the manufacturer has designed the ATV for two people." Come to find out that in the fine print, they say that ALL manufacturer minimum requirements must be followed otherwise they will issue a ticket andor impound the ATV. Well, my son isn't 12 yet (their minimum). So, I have a deposit down on a RZR due in July/Aug and want to know if I am going to run into the same issue with age or size.

Jeff, Welcome to PRC ;-)
The warning sticker on the passenger side says "never cary a passenger under 12 years old. with a bunch of other warnings helmets grab bar seat belts no drugs or alchohol ect ect. I hope that answer your questions. there are 7 warning stickers in the cockpit and cargo area alone.

Probably due to size and states like Calif which might require child seats or booster seats. Depending on size or age.
No drugs or alchohol? Man that takes all the fun out of it....

Kids pose a problem when it comes to seats and seatbelts.
I'm sure if you contacted a company like jaggedx they might
make a seat that is complient for kids.

God I hope not! That is just asking for trouble imo.
I am against all these UTs with seats in the back as well.

Well, that pretty much clarifies what I was looking for. I'd still like to know if it is that clear in the manual still (sticker's can fall off). Is it possible that there are regional or state differences in their stickers based on laws? It suprises me that a Rhino and a Ranger are so much more relaxed about it when it appears that the RZR is built with a higher level of safety in mind.

I agree about the seats in the back of SxS's...seem like they'd be really dangerous. I'd love to upgrade the seat belts to 5 point harnesses anyways. In a roll over, I'd never trust a 3 point.

My experience with the rear seats in the Ranger, Rhino, etc. has been that driver's are much, much more conservative with their style of riding when people are in the back, since it's normally kids and they are just taking the family "sightseeing". I have heard of a few rollvers on UTV's with the rear cage/seats installed, but none so far that were carrying anyone in the rear seats when it happened, which seems to agree with my opinion that people drive more aggressively when there are only occupants in the front.

Don't get me wrong, I am not calling out folks who have the back seats or calling them iresponsiable that is their choice and freedom. I don't hold anything agaist them, But I don't even want to risk it and I consider myself a very experienced rider/driver. Being a father now I don't I could live with myself if anything were to happen, there is too much chance. I myself would probly buy a trans mule before putting a seat in the bed of a Ranger/Rhino/Gator and with much hesitation. I may have to wait for a TransRanger lol... Are you listening Polaris?
