Picked up my new 570 today. Put the polaris front brush guard on and the rear bumper. The rear bumper is basically flush with the furthest point on the tailgate...and it's possible the tailgate is a centimeter or two further out than the bumper itself. I can't believe this is how it is supposed to be. Any advice please?!!

When I made my rear bumper, I placed it about 3 inches out to protect the tailgate.

Yes that is the way that bumper is. A FYI, if you put taller tires on, they will rub on the bumper when box is lifted. Solution, shorten strong arm mounting location.

What exactly do u mean shorten the strong arm? Won't that put the bumper further under the box serving no purpose at all? Not that it serves much purpose now!

Tire Automotive tire Auto part Automotive wheel system Metal The pin and clip that I am pointing is the new location that I chose to mount the strong arm. You can see the factory hole is slightly lower. By doing this I was able to shorten the rise of the box without sacrificing the travel of the strong arm and thus preventing the bumper from rubbing on the tires. Hope this helps

Ok I see. Thanks! That doesn't really help me with the fact that the bumper wont save the tailgate from being damaged since its a little under flush to the tailgate, but I do plan to get bigger tires so this will help with that. Thanks again!

Why not get a piece of treated 2x4 or 4x4 , bevel the ends and give it a coat of varnish and bolt it to the bumper to extend it past the tailgate ? A little hilbilly but it would do the job .

Here's the bumper I fabbed. The brackets mount inboard of the "hinges", so it pivots when the box is dumped. The tailgate clears the bumper when it is opened.

There are 2 brackets that mount to the Ranger, then the bumper is attached to them.

The bumper plugs are OEM Polaris parts.
