Why would you want to dissable it?? There is a reason that Polaris puts this kind of safety precaution into their Rangers.

Its just a pain. I'm sure I'll get used to it but with it being new I find my self always turning the key without hitting the brake first. Kids will not be operating my machine so I don't see the harm. My old polaris four wheeler did not have this function and it never caused any safety issues.

I don't know for sure but would assume it's a normally open switch, try un plugging it and jumping it out with a little peice of wire. If you see sparks I was wrong[:D]

The switch is activated by hydraulic pressure and located on the junction block where the left front brake line ties in. It is mounted directly over the left side of the rack and pinion (at least on my 06 XP). It makes a ground circuit that also turns on the brake lamps.
It is indeed a safety switch that is really not that hard to get accustomed to.

Welcome to the PRC, press the brake and the switch at the same time, like jere said, you're car or truck won't go in or out of gear without mashing the brake pedal.

Give it time the wire will break or the switch will go out. My switch died after about a month. It finally, working again.

As far as pushing the pedal goes to start, that's a good safety feature in my opionion. My F-350 won't go in gear without the pedal depressed, same with the wifes Merc. So hitting the pedal will grow on you pretty quick.
I agree about the parking brake. And will add, never allow an over zealous 16 y/o son to set the brake. It takes mechanical surgery to get it released, and the patience of Job to get it to catch there after.
I was in the field last fall and had set my brake, it some way released, and away went the Ranger. It came to an abrupt stop against a small oak tree, which knocked a nice size dent, square / center of the grill guard. ugh!
So the grill guard is, a good investment.

I think its a dumb feature and if remeber correctly the ranger it the only on that has it the rhino starts in nuetral and so does the arctic cat. The switch make you have to be at least half way in ranger to start it so if you wanted so start it to let it warm up you just cant reach in like a car and start it. All it is is more junk to remove from your ranger thats not nessasary.

I agree, its an annoying feature and now on my 5th Ranger I would like not to have to deal with it. And, I too have to step on the brake in my F350 to shift gears but - what the heck does that have to do with using a Ranger?
