After you recover from you RZR trip could you give us a list of questions that were asked and the answers?

Did it sound like the RZRs will be out on schedule or do you believe they will run behind?

Any info on the accessories? I called my dealer today and he said I couldn't even order a bumper for it yet as he has no list.

Now my Rant:

I really enjoy this board because of the information exchanged and the maturity of its members. I really appreciate the Admin for the great job they do and the effort they put into this thing. The one thing that always distinguished this board from many of the others it was not a "my machine is better than your machine" but rather "this is what I have done and it works, do you have anything else I might do to improve it". Thanks Gary and the gang for trying to shut the boasters down and keeping this a fun place to come to.

We had a really informal, lightning quick time. We really didn't keep a list of questions and a lot of things we just didn't get to ask. Most of our time was spent on other things. The RZR is pretty much perfect as is. There were only a few suggestions for them, but if they don't do any of those, then it won't be any less impressive. Here is what I can remember for suggestions.

1. Chuck suggested an adjustable seat back for taller people to offer helmet support, much like the seat bottom adjusts.
2. I suggested a handle to adjust the seat like a manual seat in a car.
3. Neal suggested a slight change to netting to prevent the knee from accidently sticking out.
4. Fred suggested relocating the switches and cutting off a couple inches of the bottom, center of the dash to keep your knees from hitting. This was before he drove it and after he drove it, he said "Never mind, not an issue"!!
5. I suggested a 12V outlet in the rear, under the bed to plug in a work light for mechanical breakdown problems at night.

That is all I can remember but, as you can see, these are very minor and if none of them were done it would be no big deal. There is absolutely no need for more power or speed in my book. There is no need for any suspension work, steering work or anything else along those lines. I believe the RZR I had was the stock setup, as were most of them. I can't remember the one I took the high speed ride in but I believe it was stock tires as well and it ran like the proverbial "bat outta hell"!

Folks, these RZR's will no doubt be modded by some, but they are pretty much perfect as is and are definitely trail ready/race ready/play ready right out of the box.

On shipping dates, all I heard was they would ship within 60 days. But, that was an off the cuff comment. I know some dealers show May deliveries and that could very well still be the case.

There is one HUGE problem with the whole thing; I DON'T HAVE ONE!![:D][:D]

Thanks Bruce for the quick response.
One mod I'd like to do right away on mine is wheels. Would any wheel that fit a Ranger work? Not worried about the 50" width out West so I'd really like to get some offset wheels with a little bling. What about the fact that it has tubes? Will that require a specific type of rim or not?
G
I didn't realize it has tubes. Hmmmmm!
You will soon see many different aftermarket rim/tire combinations available. I didn't know it ran tubes and would be suprised I guess if it did.

Anyway it is bad dad fun to drive and I am trying to figure out how to keep my Ranger, my wife and a new Razor....LOL

It has the same bolt pattern as the Ranger and it appeared that anything would fit. The pretty wheel/tire combo they show on the Rally model was 27 inch tires and 14 inch rims. I never heard anything about tubes though.
G
I'm pretty sure it's tubeless as putting in tubes would be stepping backwards unless you were running tire balls.

Let me know how that works out for ya Fred. If works out good then you'll have to let me in on your little secret. LOL

Hmmm, the test's I read in Dirt Wheels and another mag said it had tubes. I thought it was kinda strange too???

I doubt it has tubes. That would be very unlikely. From what I understand the current 4/156 Polaris wheels should work. That said, I have noticed on a few of the latest Polairis models that they have some "tabs" that act as a centering device with the stock steel wheels and 1 customer told me some ITP wheels would not work with them. I am not sure if he was just mistaken or not, or if the rzr has these (although I am 90% sure the one I saw at Polaris' event in Tennessee last month did). Either way, I may be wanting to use a wheel that does not come in a 4/156 (nor do I care for the larger center caps), so I am likely going to use some 4/156 to 4/110 billet spacer/adapters we carry to allow me to run a 4/110 wheel.

I must be losing my mind! I could swear I read somewhere that it had tubes! Now I can't find it anywhere. [:I][)]

I talked with there RZR accessories tech and we talked about a lot of options that would work and how to mount them, also got some info on parts to come, they are working on a lot of items and the Rangers are not being left behind, they are working on some things that we have been asking for and I can't wait to see what they might do to the 08 Ranger. It's nice to see that these Ranger techs are not just sitting back and taking it easy, they are working hard to see how to make them better.

I think Polaris is going to help drive every other manufacturer (YAMAHA, are you listening?) to make improvements/updates to their product line. I credit Yamaha with really starting the recreational market for the SxS market, but I do think they have sat on their butts long enough without FI or some chassis/drivetrain updates, and the release of the RZR should bring some changes to the table on their product as well.

Matt, you are so right and the best part from is, Polaris is not going to let up, they are working on changes for the full size ranger as well for next year to go after recreational rider.
Any whispers of an 800 Ranger?
800-- who said that. Holy Mooly
There was brief discussion regarding what size tire will fit under the stock set-up, but I seem to remember one of the Polaris techs indicating that without spacers or after-market wheels that off-set the tires, there would be a rubbing problem in the front end when making sharp turns if you went much bigger than stock. But I don't recall with what size tire you would begin to experience the problem.
