Hi everybody, I have a 2015 Ranger 900 xp with 75 hours and 270 miles on it. I checked the oil and it was just above the safe mark. It didn't use any oil because I checked it as soon as I got the 25 hour service done and it was in the same spot. Did they not put enough oil in it when they did the service? Anyway when I checked the oil and put the dipstick back in and folded it over I could very easily pull the dipstick back out with it in the locked position. Is this ok? Do I need a new dipstick with only 75 hours on it? It didn't look like it has any adjustment on it. Thanks in advance for all of you guys help.

Richard my 2013 Ranger 900 XP is like yours. I too didn't care much for the idea that you could pull out the dipstick easily with the flip over handle down and in if you will in the locked position for operation. Have to say I have never had it come out. If you feel uncomfortable Zip tie it down or wire it down with a piece of safety wire. As to the oil level the Operators Manual calls for 2.5 quarts with filter and on my dipstick it registers half way between the low and high marks on the dipstick. When you take a machine into the dealer for service just be reminded that job generally goes to the low man on the totem pole and it is what it is. One reason I still do my own servicing.

I'm on my third replacement dipstick. The design is apparently junk.

Wow so should I replace mine? How much does it cost? I do know that it wasn't Easy to pull out while locked the last time I checked my oil. If I leave it in and don't worry about it will dirt or water enter the engine? Is there an aftermarket dipstick available or something we can do to make the rubber part just a little bit bigger? Thanks again guys for all your help I really appreciate it.

Just did my 25hr oil change and noticed samething on my 2015 Ranger 900 Crew. Dipstick comes out easily in locked position, too easy! Looking for replacement looks like p/n 1204967 has been replaced by p/n 3022897. Anyone know if this is an update to correct the issue?
