I mentioned a month or so ago that I picked up a Mule for my uncle. I finally took a few shots of it next to my Ranger before we took it to him this past week. Two very different machines for different purposes IMO.
Trent,
Thanks for posting the pictures, that's the best comparison photos I've every seen of the two machines. If you ever ride together post a write with a comparison. I've ridin in Mules before but never side by side and think that there must be a big difference in capabilties of the two machines trail riding.
Nice pictures, thanks. But I don't know if the steel bed will tear up that easy. A guy at work just had his mother back into his Chevy truck bed with the tailgate of her mule and it didn't scratch the mule and did a $1000.00 worth of damage to the truck bed side.
Well I was hauling concrete blocks over rough terrain yesterday--trying to get several irrigation crossings a little more solid before the corn gets too tall. I think I would have scratched the heck out of a metal bed with that alone not to mention everything else we throw in there. The plastic bed isn't perfect either but I probably need something that won't rust or need paint.
The metal bed will scratch, but it is pretty tough. They sell bed mats and bed liners for mules, so scratching can be prevented. I had a 3010 gas mule and my bro-in-law currently has a 3010 diesel. Mules are very tough machines and are about the perfect size. I'd probably still have mine if they just went a little faster (25mph is about top speed)
I have a friend who has a mule at his lake house. I took my Ranger out there to play around and I smoked that mule all over the place. His mule even broke down out in the feild and I towed back with Ranger in reverse with my winch. It was funny, that mule didn't stand a chance!
