Probably a heat shield. Common problem.

 

More than likely it has a crack in it.

 

How would I fix the sheild noise?

 

If there is a crack, is it fixable or an upgrade?

 

If I'm not mistaken, they've revised the part and made it thicker to prevent it from re-occurring. If you buy a new one, just make sure it's not some old stock on the shelf and is thicker than the one that's on it now. If I'm wrong, I'm sure somebody will correct me on this.

I had to replace mine a couple of months ago. The dealer had to order it because he didn't have any in stock. The new one is considerably thicker than the old one. It should only run about $10. At least that's about what I paid.
