Have been noticing after putting my 2014 900 into reverse it doesn’t engage right away and sometimes skips gears before locking in. Anyone else have this issue?

I treat my 2014 reverse gear like a 1962 Orvis bamboo 5 weight.
And yes a couple times I've heard a click click click when shifting into reverse. When I do shift into reverse I make sure I'm holding firmly on the brake and shift. Never moving or on a steep grade if I can help it. I think Forde said a few weeks back, Polaris has made a Galzillion rangers and 100 out of the Galzillion have had a reverse gear issue. That may be true. But I baby it to make it last.

Mine grinds when going into high or low if you don't wiggle the shifter. Sounds like all hell is breaking loose inside when it happens if you gas it, but no failures thus far. Just an annoyance and embarrassing when you have someone riding with you.

I'm not sure why the grinding would take place only when shifting into reverse. In theory nothing should be spinning because the clutch is completely disengaged at idle. No spinning/no grinding.

To test the no spinning/no grinding theory, try shifting with the engine turned off.

Is it possible that either your idle speeds are too high, which would begin to engage the primary clutch, or the clutch itself has a problem? Perhaps the primary clutch is dirty so the parts don't move freely and allow complete disengagement or a bad needle bearing or the Teflon coating is gone from the bushing.

Pull the clutch cover off. If the secondary is spinning at idle, your going to get the grinding you guys are describing. Sometimes it's just a matter of shimming the secondary so the clutches are aligned.

I hadn't even thought of that. Great observation!
