My 09 500 Ranger after traveling a few miles at high speeds, when I stop and let it idle for a while it has a rough idle and than sometimes the rig will shut off. It doesn't do it all the time but enough that I'm wondering if there is a issue.

Any idea's on what could be causing this issue?

Installed a new battery 2 years ago along with spark plug, change fluids every year but other than that, haven't had to do much maintenance on the machine. Maybe it's time for a tune up at the dealer.

Almost sounds like vapor lock or low fuel pressure if EFI. Have you checked for codes ?

It is EFI and I have not checked for codes.

I'll need to look how to do that in the manual.

It did have enough power to pull out my F-150 this weekend out of a mud hole when the front tires sank in the mud. :)

Michael, Check for EFI codes . The IAC could need a cleaning and I would check the sensor/wire harnesess for wires rubbing/chaffing. I would check the throttle body adapter where it bolts to the head for cracking .

Thanks for the information

I'll check those items out and see what I can come up with.
