I had long been looking for a set of reasonably cheap upgraded shocks for the crew. I knew the Polaris stock stuff wasn't great and I knew how much a decent set of shocks helps a sled, so i figured it would be a significant upgrade for my Ranger. Unfortunately our options are pretty damn limited. I came across a set or shocks from SATV that seems to work pretty well for my application. It was some left over stuff AK 900XP Crew LE had from his suspension upgrade attempts. I ended up with a set of Phantom reservoir shocks from SATV. The rears are what they sell to go with their Wicked 6 lift kit. The front are their RZR S shocks. I put 275 lb/in springs on the front and rear. Both sets of shocks are about 1" longer than the stock shocks, so I ditched my 2" HL bracket lift because I didn't want to push the suspension much past the limits of what the stock components allow. The added shock length translates into a lift that nearly matches what I had with the HL 2" lift and with a longer shaft on the shock, I get more suspension travel. The ride is SIGNIFICANTLY upgraded from the stock Polaris shocks. Just a little feedback on some success I had putting some shocks together for my Ranger.

Hard to find a more affordable option than the satv shocks, they are half the cost of most of the major brands...

Will the reservoirs on the rear hit your frame as the sway bar is pushed up?

If you are wanting to mount the front reservoirs in a cleaner spot they fit nicely under the hood if threaded behind the headlight :)

Good to hear they are working for you...

The Polaris/Walker Evans Ranger had some really nice billet reservoir mounts that utilized the top shock mounting holes both front and rear. I looked them up in the polaris parts and they are no longer available through them.

Looks good Clay, glad they worked out for you. You need to come by and get those other springs. ;-)

Great setup.

Are the shocks available separately from the lift from SATV?

I currently have the Dragonfire 2in lift but would rather run longer than stock shocks to gain the lift with a little more travel.

TJM - I did take it out for a 10 mile or so run around on the sno go trails after the mount up but it is worth checking to see if I'm getting any frame interaction. The mounting on both the front and rear need some tweaking. I played around with the under the hood mount in the front for the reservoirs and will probably ultimately end up putting them there. The reservoir lines worry me being exposed like they are to sticks and other foreign objects. These things had been sitting on my workbench for so long I was determined to get them installed so in the end, I just picked fairly easy spots to mount the reservoirs.

thestir - you won't find them on the SATV website, you will need to call and talk with someone to get what you need since the shocks come from 2 different set ups. I originally had 4 shocks for the wicked 6 lift but the fronts were WAY too long. So I sent them back and ended up with the RZR-S fronts.

Bryan - It's still on my list! Of course I'll have to get them PC'd to match my current silver springs.

Still working great. I think I'm going to add my HL 2" kit back on to the rear if I can. I've got about 2" more clearance in the front than the rear. I think the rear shocks were pretty close to the same length as the stockers.

I purchased those shocks from Clayton74. Changed oil and springs (hypercoil 1812B0250 front & 1814B0275 rear) as I have a regular 900 ranger. Was a little hard to find places to mount the reservoirs. If you are careful the banjo bolts can be loosened just enough to re clock lines without them leaking. Ride is a little stiffer at low speed but much improved overall. They will also provide around 2" of lift.

Thanks for the reply on this shock thing, I am curious if the shocks that are being discussed here are the same shocks that SATV is selling for the RXR s.? The price is pretty comparable to an OEM refit for my blown up originals. I don't mean to beat this to death but I live in a place that SATV won't ship to so theredeliver to, so I need to get it right before I ask my Anchorage friends to accept a shipment then mail it to me.
Thanks,

So, I couldn't get the answers that I was looking for from satv so I went ahead and ordered a set of their rzr-s shocks for front and back part #NS-RR-6T-2D-175/NS-RR-7T-2D-225. I got nervous about the fitment this morning and called again to see if I could have a little more success in finding the same shock as discussed on this thread, ( no luck ) but I was able to get the measurements for the shocks that I ordered ( front eye to eye 191/2'') , ( rear eye to eye 211/2'') Here goes

Those might be the units. SATV shocks I have are about 1" longer than the stock shocks.

PS sent you a PM.
