since I'm new to this I'm having a little problem. I have a 2011 800 XP ranger I can be driving it for about an hour run fine but when I kill it, it will not start. I can smell gas like its flooded. after about 10 minutes it will start. It still has the original battery in it and it seems a little weak could that be the problem? Can anyone give me and clues what to do or look for?

jim, A weak battery doesn't help but it sounds more like vapor lock. Could be from fuel pump going south, then running lean causing higher operating temperature>>>>>>>>>fuel line vapor lock.. I would check the fuel pressure HOT and under load..

Both battery and fuel pump are good things to look at. Numerous RZR owners have reported similar problems, if your cooling fan is running at the time you want to shut the engine down, wait until the fan stops before shutting the engine off, this will lower the engine temperature and help when you want to restart the engine. I can't speak for a Ranger, but on a RZR 800 the fuel pressure should be 39 +-2 psi at all times. You can borrow a fuel pressure gauge from most any auto parts store. hook it up to the end of the fuel rail and perform the test as Jungleman describes.

well, I check the pump and with just turning the key on the pressure goes to 20# and with running it goes to 35-38#. After driving it for about 30 minutes I killed the engine and let set for about 5 minutes. tried to start the ranger again and pressure went to 20# and would not start. I have order a new 140# pump with a regulator on ebay for $65.99. if it comes in this weekend I will install it and give a run. I can also reroute the fuel line away from the header area.
