I thought i'd post a teaser for everyone. If it wasn't for this forum, I wouldn't have been able to do this, thank you!

Polk Marine 5-1/4" for the front, Infinity Marine 6-1/2" for the rear & a JBL marine amp to power it all.

I'm going to paint the dash & speaker pods Red to get a close color match to my rig, i'm thinking it'll look good & break up the interior a bit.

Where'd you get the roof speaker pods?

Ebay actually. $59 shipped, I gave them an extra $5 to cut the speaker hole for my 6.5's.

Nice. Let me know how you end up wiring up the 4 speakers to the amp. More importantly, how you tie in the radio to the amp. The radio only has two speaker outputs, so I ended up using a Y cable on both.

If the stereo doesn't have pre amp outputs and the amp doesn't have high level inputs then there is an adapter you can put between the two, to turn your high level signal into a low level signal. I'm not familiar with that head unit... does it have it's own power or does it require an amplifier?

Sorry... just looked it up. It does require an amp so you shouldn't have had to split the signal at all... just plug it into the preamp inputs on the amp

What I am referring to is if you wire one set of speakers to front on the amp and the other set to rear on the amp, the stereo only has one set of outputs, so you will only hear one set of speakers unless you (A) use an rca splitter or (B) double up the speaker wires on the amp.

I will keep everyone updated as the install progresses. Tman, I remember you having issues with the amp now that you brought it up. We'll see how it goes.

Good deal I'll be following this one because this is my next project I'm interested in seeing how those speaker pods work. Your sig says poly roof I'm assuming you mean the polaris sport roof?

I looked at the SSV pods, good stuff, well made, wrong mounting location. I put my foot there a lot while driving & can't sacrifice space for sound. I do agree with you brother that the Polaris pods are poorly made, we'll see what I can do with them.

Same here I've been trying to think of a way to seal them to make them sound a little better but haven't come up with much.

I don't think it'll be too hard, I will seal the seams between the dash & pod with Black RTV or something similar. I really wish the SSV pods didn't mount where they are, i'd be rocking them right now.

Pre amps don't work that way. On your amp you should have a pre-amp input. There are only two sets of preamps coming out of your head unit and possibly one for a sub which I doubt your unit has. Put the two pre-amps into the pre-amp input on the amp and you will get four channels. If you ran the inputs into the high level inputs on the amp that's a different story.

Sorry for the delay gents, I was out of state working this week. I did manage to get my pods & dash fit & painted however. The red is actually darker than the pictures show, we'll see how it actually looks in the Ranger.

I'm going out riding tomorrow so my install is on hold until I get back. I will update as progress continues.

So, what are you saying? I have it wired wrong? If the head unit has only one output, then you have to split it.

Any update? Be interested in your amp wiring an location, etc.

Install will start Saturday. I had to leave the state for work which kind of put a kink in my plans last week. :D
