I have a dual battery system to accommodate listening to the stereo for extended periods of parked time and I've had a charging problem or two that required I change the stator to a new aftermarket one. Things improved but I still have to trickle charge the unit from time to time. Now, all of a sudden, when I toggle through my dash settings and get to the tach, it shows zero. No rpm change will take it from showing zero. Might I need a new regulator? Anyone else experience this?

If everything else is running correctly, I would suspect a bad connection on the back of your speedo, or a bad speedo. The ECM requires that it knows the RPM so if everything else works correctly, I doubt you have a bad VR. Need a little bit more info...

Do all the other functions on your speedo read correctly?
What machine do you have (year, model)? (Would really help if you put that info in your signature file!!!)
Did your aftermarket stator wire up exactly like the OEM?
What batteries and isolator are you using?
When you trickle, which battery do you charge and do you disable the isolator before charging?

My Ranger Crew is a 2008 700 EFI 4x4. I used a Rick's stator which was an exact match and easy installation. Every other function of the speedo works as expected but the tach reads 0 at all speeds. I used a "True" smart isolator wired correctly and never had a problem with the trickle charger on either battery.
