I have a 2013 Ranger ESP 800. the thermistor went out does any know if there is a aftermarket thermistor that would allow the cooling fan to come on at a lower temp. Normal is 204 would like the fan to come on around 190
Polaris is replacing thermistor with Bosch part # 0 281 002 209, Polaris part # 4010644. As i understand when the thermistor makes contact it turns the cooling fan on. Any thoughts!

that may have been the case on the older ones, but I'm not sure on the newer ones like your 800. Don't know if the sensor on the head is just a coolant temp sensor that sends a signal to the computer, and the computer tells the fan when to turn off? not sure putting a colder thermister in your head will do anything..

Don't know if you'd want your fan coming on that quick, since your thermostat is just beginning to open at that point. The fan comes on at 204 because the engine is creating heat faster than the radiator can cool it without help from the fan.

I'd be afraid that running at a cooler temp all of the time would make the ECU adjust the mixture and cause the engine to run rich. Running rich for a little while won't hurt anything, but will cause damage if it runs that way continuously.

maybe a little rich would help the hot seat problem. maybe a lower degree thermostat
That's possible.....but running it rich for extended periods can cause excessive wear to several components.....cylinder, rings, valve stems and guides.......
