Going to do my first long trailering trip this weekend. I have the lock and ride fixed windshield and the lock and ride rear glass window. Do I need to pull the rear window for a long trip or am I good. Don't want any blow outs.

Thanks!

Thanks! Thought I had read that someone had one blow out. But now that I think about it might have been a windshield from towing it backwards.

Thanks! Towing mine forward as well. Just didn't want to leave the back window in if there was a chance the air could get it.

I pull my lock and ride full cab with tip out windshield backwards all the time. More worried about rock chips I guess than the cab blowing apart. Hate to sound like " band camp" but one time it was a fifty mph head wind for the last 92 mile and I had the Cruze set at 75 mph and this is my avg mpg

Oh I really miss my diesel pick up. I have had no issues loading the ranger backwards when towing just my two cents.

I tow mine loaded backwards, the rear glass at $300 is a lot easier on the wallet than the $1200 front tip out windshield if it gets busted by a flying rock.
I do run a ratchet strap from the rollcage to the tip out handle to take pressure off the latching post and for added security from flying open.
Also as stated above your gas milage will be horrible with the amount of wind drag from towing the ranger backwards, if you own a diesel it will be better.

If I have the svcrews in the lock and ride roof do I still need to strap it down?

This is JMO.
If you are trailering the Ranger facing forward, I would strap it down, the wind force pushing up on the roof, retained in the front by the dart pins or the plastic inserts will probably not hold.
If you trailer it facing backwards the screws that hold the rear of the roof should hold, not causing any issues. Due to the rear of the roof not having a lip/overhang to catch the air, creating resistance/pressure on the roof.

I have been towing a Ranger forward position for over 8 years with no problems. I use a Pro Locker wheel lock and recently added a padded windshield cover like the RV folks use.

The Pro lockers are great if you can find them.
And the padded winshield cover works good also ( I forgot about the cover).

o lost a sport roof trailering down freeway cost another 300.00. also have the soft rear polaris panel blow out in windy conditions so i have to remove rear panel each time i trailer it at speeds higher than 55. finally decided to bolt down the polaris snap on roof with the provided screws. sucks to learn the hard way.
