Valves or Rings

I have a 2012 Ranger XP 800 with a sob story. It was stolen with very few miles, luckily got it back but now it has issues. The losers that stole it ran it without an air filter for some reason now I have low compression in one cylinder. Without thinking much (I figured the motor is toast) I ripped the head off. Now I don't know what to replace valves or rings or both? A second issues is that the spark plug of the cylinder that had low compression appears to have been hit. No signs of damage to head or piston what could have bent the spark plug? Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for the advice everybody. Decided to go all out and take more apart. The rings were obliterated. At least we could account for all the pieces. I think I could eliminate the valves as the problem, but still going to have head checked out.
