Viper Elite Wireless Remote Installation ?

10236 Views 12 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Wmclark84
I just ordered and received a wireless remote for my Elite 5000# wide spool winch. The package came with the remote fob and the receiver. No wiring harness or more importantly no instructions. I've searched the website for installation instructions and cannot find any. Does anyone have any instructions I could use to do the install. It is probably very simple but I don't have a clue what to do or how to program it. Thanks in advance for any help!

That's odd! Did you order directly from MotoAlliance or from one of their retailers? I would call MotoAliance - they'll fix you right up!

Merry Christmas Forde, yes I ordered it direct from MotoAlliance. I thought it was odd as well. I've send a request through their website but expect it to be a few days given the holidays. Thanks....
Mark, while you are waiting, go to the Technical Support tab on their website. Install instructions and pics are there so you'll be able to hit the ground running when the harness arrives (lots of extra wire - I shortened mine)! Merry Christmas!!!!!

Thanks Forde, I'll look again but didn't find that photo. I'm just wondering if they will charge me more for the harness...alas whatever, can't install without it....lol
I went to TS page and only see a wiring splice instruction....really...lol. Oh well, thanks for your photo, it will surely help once they send me the NECESSARY harness!!!
I'm a dealer for them and I dug through my stuff and don't have a .pdf copy of the elite install. Have a lot of other stuff though. I do have a paper copy, but no way to get it to you any faster than they will. It's no different than any other winch. 2 wires from battery to contactor, 2 from contactor to winch. Then a pair that come from the handlebar switch to contactor and a pair from wireless unit to contactor that both hook together. Find a place to keep the wireless module accessible as you need to turn it on to use it by pressing the button on it before it will work. The wring should have been included and they will not charge you for it. They are closed yesterday and today. Will be back in tomorrow for the usual short Friday. Hopefully they get it out tomorrow for you.
Hey Mark what happened to the winch you had on it? I have all the instructions but it's at the farm I can go get them in the morning and I can bring them to you I need to run down there to swap some presents
Motoalliance emailed me. Winch is fine, remote didn't come with the required wiring harness. Their excuse was huge increase in orders and some temp help in the shipping department.....oooookkkkkkk! Seems every time I order from them the orders are delayed and in this case incomplete. They are sending the harness out and hopefully it will work as described.

RVS...I will need to reactivate the wireless receiver every time I want to use it....what?????? Someone please tell me it isn't so! That makes absolutely no sense. I know it is designed to disconnect power to winch after a period of time but I didn't think I would need to turn it back on manually each time. If that's the case I will certainly have to reconsider where I was going to mount it.
Just hold both buttons on remote to turn it on

Hey Michael...the remote is what didn't come with all the necessary parts. The winch if fine. I just really need a remote for hauling deer across creeks and ditches that I can't otherwise get across. Makes it much more difficult having to sit in cab. In fact, last week my winch rope got bound up on one side while I was in the cab winching....lol. Thanks for you kind offer though. happy holidays buddy.
Michael....thank you for that info...didn't make sense to have to turn receiver back on each time...lol
I thought the same thing. I think you have to hold buttons 3-5 seconds to activate the wireless receiver they do that to keep from running battery down
