I just installed a Seizmik Versaflip Poly windshield. It was the only one I found that both sectionswould flip up or down. I am thinking about waxing it two or three times to help prevent scratches. What do yall think? Would it help? Could it harm?

I've always heard you should never rub anything in the poly shields bc they'll stratch. So not sure if rubbing wax would be ok.

I wax my Lexan windshield to remove scratches. Not sure how that would work on poly.

Poly (short for polycarbonate) is the same thing as Lexan, which is a brand name. Waxing it is okay, just make sure it is clean before you start and you use clean clothes/pads to apply and remove.

There is a spray on product that you can buy at the auto parts store that you can use on your head lights to restore the lens to clear. I used some on my wifes car and it worked really well. Has anyone tried something similar on the Poly windshields?

The Versa-Flip is a nice windshield but it is not poly, it's .220" optical grade acrylic. I would check with Seizmik, but generally, only soap and water and plastic cleaners (with microfiber cloths) should be used on acrylics.

Wow, I'm surprised they are using acrylic.

Oops! I'll have to check that. I should have just made one. I'm building my rear window now and it's gonna cost a lot less than the Seizmik front did.

A buddy of mine just turned me on to a product from Meguiar's called PlastX. I haven't used it yet, but he says it worked wonders on his. So I plan to test it out as soon as I get a chance within the next few days. Being a longtime fan of Meguiar's products, I have no doubt it will perform well.
