My homework was done based on a new 2015 ranger 900 but i unexpectedly ended up with a 2013 with 45 hrs. It wa serviced by the dealer at 25 hrs. They did the oil chg and inspection, also some sort of eps warranty repair but i. Wondering what i should do at this stage, what i should check since i dont know the history.

So far, i cheched and added water to the battery but it was ok.

Greased 14 fittings that i found, maybe missed some

Checked radiator, looked clean, green and full.

Checked oil, looked very clean, fresh and full. Need to ck air filter bit what else?

I have a 2013 Ranger XP LE EPS now with about 400 hours on it. It has been a great machine. The only issue I have had with it so far is the EPS Speed Sensor issue which since has been corrected with a new Sensor and washer. I found the differential breather a bit short so I extended it up along the frame near the cab. I was concerned with water entry crossing some deep streams. I would check all the hose clamps especially on the engine air intake hoses. They do relax a little after a few hours. Once they are tightened they seem to be fine after that. Check fluids as mentioned. As to the grease fittings on the rear suspension there are 8 total. (4 ea side) and the stabilizer bar has one on each side of the mount retainers so that makes 10. There is one grease fitting off the front drive shaft at the transmission end, there you now have 11. Up front you 3 on each side giving six more for a total of 17. If I missed one some one else will chime in i am sure: Watch those side posts on the roll bar air intakes for the engine and CVT. About the only thing negative I can say about the Ranger 900 design. Poor location for air intakes in question right where the dust rolls up and water ingress via washing or a slanting rain will get in both air boxes. I took care of that issue by changing the engine air intake to the inside of the cab behind the operators seat using kit that Polaris came up with that for around 40 dollars you can purchase. On the CVT intake on the right hand side I took a evap cooler pump screen tying it to intake behind the passenger seat with a zip tie. A lot dust is getting int the cab via the rear lower back panel as it is very open for dust entry via holes for various reason in it and around the perimeter of the back panel where it is attached to the roll bar backside. I took it off and used some campers truck rail tape I picked up at Home Depot and sealed off and covering the other open holes in question. This process has worked out pretty well for me. All said I love the 900. My 3rd Ranger and it has been the best one ever. Enjoy your new ride.

I would change everything suggested at the 50 hour mark regardless how it looks and know first hand how new everything is, see http://cdn.polarisindustries.com/polaris/common/parts-manuals/9924098r03_lo_res.pdf

Lots of great feedback, thank you. It is getting loaded up on a dual axle trailer and heading to its new home this evening so just running through stuff while it is at my house.

Going to look into the things suggested here. So far, looks great. Not sure what the tire pressure is supposed to be, at 9 on the pxt,s and seems a little high but cant find a sticker suggesting otherwise.

Other than increase in horse power there really isn't a lot of difference between the 2013 & 2015 Model XP's. 20 hours on a machine is not even considered break in yet. Price would be the limiting factor for me. If it is within $1000 of 2015 I would definitely go for the 2015. $2 or 3000 would have me thinking a bit on the 2013.

Rdfish, I'd do all the fluid changes, check everything suggested in the manual, check the electrical connections, then head for the hills. Used does not mean abused. If you would have bought a new machine, you'd be out having fun. Don't worry about it. If something goes wrong, you'll know soon enough. Enjoy!:excitement::encouragement:
