Does anyone know what the metal piece is that connects my winch to my plow. it's 12" long and I want a shorter one.

Why not do away with it? When ya wanna hook up to plow, either put hook down where that metal rod connects, or take the hook off and put your "eyelet" of the cable down there. (just put pin through eye)

What he said. One more cog in the wheel. To answer your question though. No I don't other than something else to go wrong.
