It has 3 wires and is located under the seat. By pulling out the heat shield you can see part it connects to. I was able to start and run it without it being connected but not sure what that could mess up. I had a short in the connector and need to replace it. 2014 900xp. Thanks in advance.
I would also check the connector at your regulator and get eyes on your stator as well. There is a reason it melted and you need to find out why. my stator/flywheel was damaged due to a miss placed bendix washer. I ended up having to replaced both connectors, regulator, stator and flywheel.
