I would like to use different tires/wheels than the Polaris ones. With the Backwoods Armor A-arms and the lift kit this machine now warrants some one-off wheels that make it stand out. And I found a manufacture (non-PRC sponsor of course) willing to donate to the project.

If there are not objections up here and Randy can of course get clearance from Bryce I can then just send the 5 tires and 2 wheels back or whatever would be desired.

You have many options to design your own wheels and here is what I came up with . After you open the link look on the right side of all the options you can change. Pretty cool, give it a try.

Neal, I probably would send much back that you requested from Polaris. You asked for items and they sent them, and it might get them upset with us. If Bryce oks the tire switch, I wouldn't stray too much from what you already requested. Does that make sense to you Neal? I don't want them to be cautious filling our orders in the future.

Yes it does and I feel the same. That's why I came up here for clearance. In defense of the change is that the idea came about due to the arched A-arms/lift kit. I would kinda think Polaris would be intrigued to see some personalized touches which will very likely draw a considerable amount of more interest/views.

I obviously have made no commitments to the wheel manufacturer without approval so if there is fear of ticking of Polaris it is no issue. But I do anticipate the results with these wheels and some big hungry tires will do just the opposite.

Maybe Randy has some input on this situation. Possibly he can discuss it with Bryce. Probably won't be a big deal if it is not something we do very much. We just don't want to ruffle feathers for future projects.

I agree and thought the same about Randy feeling up Bryce (in the non-**** fashion of course ).

My thinking is that we just do it - get the wheels/tires that Neal is wanting. Neal has a good taste and feel for this sort of thing so I'm sure it will look great.

I'm forgetting what wheels/tires we ordered from Polaris, but as long as we don't stray any further than just this one mod, I don't see that its a big deal and I'm confident that Bryce won't either. I kinda doubt that he'll want us to send the other ones back and - as you suggested, Gary - doing so might appear unappreciative on our part.

I'm kinda thinking that I simply inform Bryce at some point that we swapped them out and ask him if its okay that we keep the others. There's something about sending them back to Polaris that smells like a snub to me.

Good, just good. I really believe part of the benefit that Polaris receives from PRC is the benefit of design engineering. And these wheel will enable somewhat of a "one off" that will help differentiate it.

BTW- the only reason tires must come from someone else is because Polaris just plain don't have anything tall.

Are the rims you have now something that will work on the current show Ranger? I have the road tires on our wheels and the big tires stacked in the garage with no wheels. It would be nice to have wheels on the other set so I could switch to the bigger tires for parades. Just a thought.

I think that is a great idea Gary. Just make sure your tires are 14" and you are set. Of course three of them are on back order .

Yes, my show tires are 14" and back order is fine. When they come in maybe I will make a road trip and see the project Ranger up close so you don't have to ship them. That way we can always say the wheels are being used on the other show Ranger if Polaris asks. I was afraid I was going to have to take them in to the tire shop and get them swapped back and forth every time we had an event or parade. If the big tires are mounted on wheels I can just pop them on and off for events.

I had the same thought. Would love to have down to see the Ranger, maybe this time I could run you around my woods (about 72 MPH ). Seriously, I was disappointed I didn't show you my land on your last visit.

I like all of these ideas. Glad we talked about it.
