I looked at both Cart Wheeling and Side x Side and don't see much for the Ranger owners in either one, but especialy Side x Side. Not a single picture of anything other than the Rhino. Is either one worth the cost if you have a Ranger? I don't race, or even play much with my Ranger, it's a duck hunting machine, or a taxi.

There is some decent info in there from time to time on new products...but as hunter and taxi man...I don't think you will find much you like. The subscription price is pretty cheap...you might just get it for a year and see what you think.

I've got a subscription to Cart Wheelin and from what seen in the first couple of issues you are correct...75% Rhino articles and ads, 25% everything else. Nice magazine, just not much for Ranger owners.

Stay tuned for a ton of Ranger coverage in the next issues of Cartwheelin, guaranteed! I'd recommend both magazines very highly.

We have added some tech sections for the XP as well as the RZR in upcoming issues. In the past we have showcased Rangers, some nice rides from the PRC group and a great article on the new RZR. If you have any ideas of what you would like to see in the magazine feel free to email me your suggestions at: [email protected]

Thank you,
Troy

I am sure like anything else they have to cater to the larger market, gotta make a profit. I hope to see more Ranger articles also but do enjoy reading the mags anyway.

What would we like to see in the mags?

One thing to consider....Side X Side, CartWheelin' and Toy Hauler Magazines all help us bring members to PRC. Each of them participates in an advertising exchange with us. They give us free display ads in their magazines and we give them free advertising on PRC. Send them your photos, write about your experiences with the UTVs. Sometimes you get back what you put into something like this. Many of our members have been featured and CartWheelin' has done a couple of multi-page layouts on our club.

Good points Gary...and I believe all ofthose mentioned including all of us want to see this industry grow even more, and we can only do it if we all help each other out.

Looks like the publishers are open and listening, just getting more input from the Rhino side. Maybe the RZR will change all that shortly.
Still it seems the toys are more popular than the work horses. Think I'll fine a magazine rack that carries them and pick my issues by the content for a while.

After reading the articles in the July/August SideXSide Magazine, It sounds like the editor has a 700XP now. He used it to race in some UTV races in Socal. Maybe more Ranger stuff will be included now.

I have been watching the new racks in the grocery stores, drug stores and the book stores for most of a year now and so far i have only found one of the two magazines on one shelf. It had articles on the RZR and on emergency type vehicles that were very well written. When I finished it I passed it on to an Emergency services guy in Chambers, AZ wanting something like that for his search and rescue/fire department.

Cartwheelin's isn't on the newsstand yet, SxS is on a select # of newsstands, and I think I've heard Barnes and Noble is one of them, but don't quote me on that. Everyone on here should know where to get a subscription, though, right? www.sidexsideaction.com and www.cartwheelin.com There's going to be dramatic changes in both magazines I'd guess, just based on the new vehicles, etc. I get both, and I read them cover to cover, regardless that a lot of it isn't for my vehicle specifically, because I want to know what's going on in the industry, all the late breaking products, etc. But, that's just me.

Sometimes it is cheaper just to buy a years subscription on line then traveling around to pay full retail for one issue. If you don't like it don't renew

I'm sure the RZR is going to shake things up in offroad publishing. The media coverage so far has been huge--and most of that was before any shipped out to customers. What troubles me are magazines like Dirtwheels

that give the appearance there is no separation between the advertising and editorial departments. A magazine is doomed to fail when it loses its integrity. It's too easy to say that a magazine is only reporting what people send in or ask for. How lazy is that?? Subscribers are better served by an editorial staff that works hard to seek out new & exciting things and bring this to the subscribers attention.
