I want to change my 2005 XP belt to the Sp belt.I'm also going to install the white spring. Do I need to add the washer, I've reading with an with out the washer, what has been working or what combination of spring and belt do you recomend?

With the Sportsman belt, leave off the washer. The sp belt is a little shorter and if you add the spring, it will be very hard to get in and out of gear.

I did that swap too, I dont personally care for it as it takes me longer to get up and go and it seems to be more liable to get stuck in the mudholes i used to have no problem with.

So are you suppose to add the washer if you make the spring change with out the SP belt? And what happens if u don't add the washer?

Taylor, without the SP belt, some have been adding the washer. It just spaces the clutch closer to allow it to engage quicker. It will work fine without it, just not as snappy.

Shawn, are you saying your performance was worse with the SP belt? That would be suprising, the SP belt has been a big help with acceleration and low end power for most of us.

I'm running a stock XP belt with the white and washer set-up. I like the take off and it runs real well. The only thing that changed that I wasn't a big fan of but have gotten used to is that the clutch kicks out a little faster when going down hill. It doesn't hold you back at very low rpms but I've gotten used to it. I just come down hills faster now, LOL!
