Hey guys, we have a '13 Ranger 500, and a friend gave me a 2500# Badland winch , so I was wondering has anyone here put one behind the grill like this picture ?

Any threads showing what you did and the steps? That is a clean install and it sure would be handy to have in there.

Installed a Smittybilt Winch into my Ranger. Followed the instructions of this thread and clip and was very successful with it.

If you put it behind the grill, spooling it evenly is very difficult. I'll never mount another one behind the grill.

x2 to what Jerry said. My Browning edition came with the winch mounted behind the grill and I hated it. Hard to see the spool, hard to reach the free wheel knob, too low and always getting submerged in the mud and water. Since I changed to the SATV bumper and moved it out and up, I like is FAR better.

Mines behind the grill. just works better for me when using the lower front 2" receiver.

Yeah I know, synthetic rope on a roller fairlead. I just watch it close when spooling or pulling so not cut or fray it.

Soooooooooo ??---------what's wrong with synthetic rope with roller fairlead??-------just asking as I have not heard of that being an issue?
