This is what I made for the Ranger this winter
Started w/this

Tore it down to this

Narrowed it to this

Shortened it to this

Ended up w/this

Front/Side view

Almost done.

When the lift gate was cut down to size it was cut wrong.
I told the dog to measure twice, cut once, He blamed the cat, right.
We know who wont be driving the Ranger to Petsmart for doggie brew
for a while [}:)] [:D]
I think I'm going to use plastic sheeting from wal-mart w/velcro
on the sides and screw the top to the shell for the back window. Plastic wont rattle. The front slider and side windows still work
The cost[?]
Got the shell for free, helped clean a buddy's yard
1 can spray paint/roll of caulking 10 bucks
Having (hopefuly) the only Ranger w/a camper shell, priceless [;)]

Dang, I was driving down the road the other day and somebody had an old camper shell in their yard with a sign that said free. Free is always good, but for the life of me I just couldn't think of what I would do with it... Your idea is great!

I'm glad you guys like the shell. The aluminum was easy to work with
just un-screw and cut.If I had fiber glass skills, a guy could come up with something really nice out of a glass shell.
Ranger Dave, I used shade cloth from Home Depot on the top.
About 25 bucks for 30'x10' roll. Works great I even haul the Ranger on a open 18'traler at 65 mph,no problems.
