This past weekend I planted some "Bio-Maxx" deer food plots on my land in Michigan's U.P. Used the Kubota L3830 tractor to disk the plot. The trail to the plot has some soft spots and the Kubota, probably over 5000# with filled tires and a 6.5' box frame disk, did some major sinking into the mud. Thankfully the 'bota is 4WD so I got through. After running home and swapping the tractor for the '06 XP, I was puttin down the trail with a few hundred pounds of seed and fertilizer and pulling a 6' cultipacker. Never thought about getting stuck with the Ranger but once I hit were I had churned things with the tractor, I was buried to the nerf bars. A chance to play with the winch I thought... plugged in a the winch remote, hit the out button and nothing. Now I was concerned. I went over the wiring hook ups and, after several tense minutes, found the negative cable to the relay wasn't hooked up to the battery.

I blew my crankshaft seal on the XP at about 80 hours (squirted oil on the clutch causing it to slip - especially in high gear). My dealer covered the issue but had to pull the motor to replace the seal. They forgot to reconnect the winch negative when the re-installed the negative to the battery - glad I found it or I'd still be stuck out there.

I use a rear mounted spreader for seeding and fertilizing. Looked good and we've got 2 good rains since I planted so hopefully it will turn out.

Glad you had a winch.

What does a 6' Cultipacker look like. Is this it?

Perhaps pulling such a unit was what did it. If your Kobota got through it, I bet if you were not pulling the packer, you would have gotten through it just fine.

Fun using the winch though isn't it![:)]
