Sounds like the fuel pump to me... Have you checked the fuel pressure?

May not completely gone yet but on its way. You can borrow a "checker" at most parts houses. It should be a minimum of 56 psi.

rlow, a fuel pump making noise is never a guarantee that it is operating properly and proper fuel pressure is critical to starting and proper engine operation on ANY fuel injected engine.

As Kris stated, just because you can hear it, doesn't necessarily guarantee it's creating the correct operating pressure.

Your unit requires 58 +/- 2 psi. ( idling and running under a load)
There is a schrader valve on the fuel rail, you will twist off the cover cap to the valve.
If you do not have a fuel pressure tester/guage, I recommend purchaseing one.
As Chief stated, you can "borrow" one from your local parts dealer, in most cases as well.

Also check the vent line on the gas tank. Make sure it is not plugged.

No, this is not a common problem on the 900's.

When did you purchase the unit, since you state it only has 10hrs on it.
Did something happen to possibly cause this issue, referring to you riding conditions and use of the Ranger.

Give us a little more information.

Chief may be correct, you may need some fresh gas.
How long has it been sitting with the current fuel?

10 hours on a year old machine...? May just need some fresh gas in it.

I'm with the other guys. Fresh 91 threw it to burn some carbons and some sea foam never hurts.
