Rockn h I like your roof nice clean setup you got their , is their any air holes in the box for the stereo? I want to do mine like that didn't know if it should have vent holes or not

 

Thanks, I went with the speakers "above" the roof to save headroom. It's hard to tell, but the radio itself is a digital receiver that's only 4" deep. I was able to build a smaller box that left more room for the center passenger. I made the speaker box's for the woofers "non ported" or sealed. I did a few quick searches and found that I could build a lot smaller sealed box than ported, and the sound was supposed to be more what I wanted (less rumble, more punch). I think for 8" woofers it's around 1.53 cubic feet?

 

Finally got my roof. After reading and looking decided to make my own out of 3/4 plywood. It's mainly intended to make shade in the heat of the day. I carpeted the underside as someone had done, and I really glad I did. Had a couple of Emgo nets laying around so put them on the roof for maps, hats and things like that. I have a non stock cage and the front bar sits lower so I made some spacers. Everything is lock nuts, towed it 70mph today and it's not going anywhere(Good) I also mounted a old cargo carrier on my bed for extra stuff. I like the way it works. I painted the roof white with some old oil base paint about 4 coats and trimmed it out with aluminum chanel.

 

Tuna.. That is one very nice cosmetically / structurally acceptable top. You could stand (or jump) on that top and never worry about it denting or caving in. I was also on the fence, about which top to go with on my 500 efi, but after seeing your handy work, all questions have been answered. Good job. Reu

Finally finish my roof. 1/4" Diamond Plate, Big Sky gun rack. Aluminum was more expensive than I expected, but overall very happy with the roof.

The plywood should be OK. I've got 2 seasons of riding under my belt w/ my 1/2" plywood roof & it's standing up well. Mind you it's stored indoors & doesn't see the sun like you would.

 

Here's one I did outta 3/16" alum. Added a couple of grab bars spaced 48 1/4" apart so I can fit a sheet of plywood if needed.
Inside carpeted with Indoor/outdoor from Lowe's. Attached with 4 1/4-20 s/s screws through to top/rollbar. The carpet was
needed for sound absorbing, the sound was like riding in a tin garbage can without it.

I'm almost done with my roof. I used the McMaster Carr clamps which I thought fit great. The rest of the materials have come from Lowe's:
(2) 3/4" treated plywood.
Indoor/outdoor carpet.
3/4" aluminum trim.
spray on adhesive for carpet.
RTV to seal gaps where the trim was attached. Not that there was a lot but I didn't want water to get in and rot the wood. I will paint it today.

I used 1/8" diamond plate and 1 3/4" edpm cush clamps from grainger part # 1bae2 to attach it to the roll cage its very solid and rattle free

 

I just did the ole Home Depot special, lol, 1/2" plywood with lots of paint rolled on. Turned out good and has suffered TONS of abuse and is still going strong.
