I recently purchased a 2016 ranger 900 eps crew and will be doing trail riding and light mudding and was wondering if the Viper Max 4000 winch would be enough.. I don't plan to need it but would like to see if the 4000lb is enough insurance just incase I do need it!! Thanks for any input!

I think that's plenty but others on here will recommend 4500 or 5000. If you're so stuck that 4000 pounder with a snatch block (total 8000 lbs) won't get you out, you should probably be looking for someone with a big tractor!

Rating are deceiving 4000lbs means winch will pull 400olbs on level ground with the minimum amount of cable on the drum. As more wraps go on drum rating drops. I recommend 4500lbs minimum winch with synthetic rope and steel drum as their have been aluminum drum failures. Also you should have a snatch block and a tree saver strap and maybe some extra cable.
