I'm not sure how many people need to have this issue before polaris /dealers take ownership of the issue. This is my seconed Ranger and first one no problems and have owned over five polairs quads. I really :x want to buy another one however with my reaccuring issues with the TSP I'm ready to drive my 2009 crew up the dealers ,,,,,, and come up with a new pass time.

I'm sure it's an easy issue yet I seem to be stumped or I'm just missing the boat.
First I inspect all my wiring on the unit and ohmed out the sensor and all looked ok. Still getting service engine .Then after looking at the other post on the fourm I set the sensor to .66 vdc as per the book. Still no work. Then I ajusted the sensor and the idel to around 1000 rpm . All went away. I ran fine for awhile then tried starting and had to give it gas to start and then the service light wouldn't go out till I rev above 5000 rpm and would run good for the day. Tried to start and wouldn't so being the issues I had seemed to focus around the tps I bought one and installed it . Set as per book and wasn't succesful. Took old tps and made test jumper and was able to dial it in around .66 vdc took for a drive and had to rev above 5000 rpm and light went out . Removed jumper and not abel to start again or dial in idle rpm at .66.
Found somthing interesting while making test jumper is that where they used a zip tie on the tps wires the wire were pinched so tight that there was some discoloration the wires ? might be nothing but when dealing the low voltages it could be somthing yet I dont have the time or money to take the whole ranger apart and strip wires to find the issues.

sorry to run on guys but like I said I'm ready to deliver this to the dealer air mail....
Thanks for any thoughts. :(

I suspect you might have an internally broken wire on the harness side of your tps unit. unplug it and pull each wire on the harness side of the plug and make sure none of them stretch or pull apart. the tps you have is new, so I wouldn't worry about those wires yet. if you find a broken wire you can either do a nice splice job or get a repair harness from polaris. it's a problem area, but it's nice they do have the repair kit.

Thanks, i found the green feedback wire just the other side of plug not making connection .Not sure how it happened but it's found thank you for the help.I had to cut and solder the wires together and set TPs at or around .8 vdc to maintain idel at 860 rpm does this sound right ? :D

glad to hear you found the problem!

if yours is an 07, the factory setting is .710 at idle if you don't do the base adjustment (mess with the idle screw). although on my 07, .710dc volts is way to much and has my idle speed up around 1350 rpm. your idle speed should be between 1000, and 1200 rpm. but no more than that.

so, if your idle speed screw hasn't been messed with, then I'd try .710 volts first, then if that idle speed it too fast, you can try and back it down to around .680

if that still doesn't work, then you may need to do the base adjustment and then re-adjust the idle. mine is set at around .680 for an idle speed of 1130.
