New member and poster, hope I am placing this in correct place. I have a 2006 Ranger 500 that will turn over but not start. Acting just like it would if it was out of gas. Had a half-assed mechanic tell me it was fuel pump which I have replaced and nothing changed. Turns over, but will not start. Only 200 hours on it...no sign of issues before this problem. Any ideas?

I assume the carburetor is clean? That's the one thing I would think of because I've that situation before.
It took a SERIOUS cleaning before it would start. The ethanol in our gas is killing our carburetors.
***I didn't notice that your post was about an EFI, these don't have a carburetor but the ethanol can still cause trouble.***

Welcome to PRC, Michael. :)

Trae is right. Ethanol makes fuel go bad much quicker than it would if it were pure gas. How long had it been since it was ran last and how old is the fuel?

well...I feel pretty stupid with this reply but I didn't even know there was a carb...I thought EFI stood for Electronic Fuel Injected and everything was electric...where do I find this carb fellas? I stood out there next to the rig and no carb jumped out at me....I know...I know. Lame.

It does not have a carb. They was mentioning ethanol fuel breaks down real quick and can cause hard or no starting, no matter the system. I have been using non-ethanol fuel with no issues.

use stabil or (better) seafoam in your gas. Your 500 is in the full sized forum. you may have water in your fuel tank. can you hear the fuel pump running when you turn the key? the tank vent on the midsized rangers looks right at the right rear tire and sucks up water, mud and dirt into the tank. ((THIS IS A BIG DEAL) one drop of water will stop a fuel injector dead. are you getting a good spark ar the right time?
