Moving over from Ranger Forums. I'm having problems with hard shifting, can't go from R up, have to put back in park then bump/slam up to L/H, if doesnt go into H have to go back to park and try again, even rolling while shifting its hard. I've broken 3 shifter handles now with the cheap cast zinc handle. The continued stress and it eventually gives up the ghost.
I have Gillomens clutch kit, 2 way bearing, EBS lockout shim, clutches aligned, no secondary spinning in P or N, HW belt. Shifter glides easy when disconnected from bell crank. With belt off there is no change in shifting, still hard as crap. So then someone suggested it could be the detent star and pawl here

So without the spring in I can shift easy with one hand using the bell crank, as soon as I put spring back in its like its binding up or too much pressure on the pawl-detent star. I am ordering a new pawl in case thats it? but roller seems fine. Suggestions?
Another note my HW belt squeals a bit when easing on gas to creep around until get enough RPM to make it grab, mostly on a slight incline, maybe 10-20 miles on it so far. If HW has any suggestions.
Thanks

570, 900, 1000 hard to shift~~~~solved
If you're 570, 900 or 1000 Ranger is hard to shift, even with the engine off, this may be your problem. First thing to check is the shift cable. Disconnect the cable from the shift lever on the transmission. If the cable moves freely dig a little deeper. After removing the shift lever, gear...

Won’t shift out of park on hills
‘21 XP 1000 crew. New in June, 70 miles on it. Sometimes when I park on hills, going up or down, it can be a real hassle to get out of park. Since there is no parking brake or e-brake, it relies on the trans to hold it, so I can see how it would bind sometimes, but still it shouldn’t be this...
