Idle problems 2011 Ranger XP 800

I have a 2011 Ranger XP 800 with high idle problems. Gets up to 2300 rpm at idle. My bother thought it would be a good idea to adjust the idle adjustment screw on the throttle body (yes the one that the service manual says NOT to adjust). So here are the questions? 1 - can I reset the screw or do I need to buy a new throttle body assembly? If so, where do I buy?
2 - after I correct my bothers screw up, any ideas on what could be causing the problem? Been to my local dealer 3 times with no results. Last time they cleaned out the throttle body, told me they rode it 4 miles and it idled at 1300 rpm with no problems...charged me $299. Got it home, rode 11 miles into the middle of no where...problem started again. On the ride home it would not go over 20mph without dying out. I am very frustrated and polaris nor my dealer is willing to help. I have already spent hundreds of dollars on a machine that only has 700 miles on it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My dealer said that the service bulletin expired. All that means now is that you have to pay for the repair. They should still know about the bulletin just tell them to check the tps, Tbap for broke wires.

Idle problems

My 2011XP idle problem is caused by the tbap wiring harness shorting/breaking. Once the tbap wiring breaks, the engine runs rough, registers multiple engine codes and creates intermittent idle problems often making it impossible to shift until i turn off the engine, shift and re- start. The last time i had a tbap failure the engine just would not start period. The next day, it stated up, but would then die. No mystery, essentially the tbap wiring is essential to smooth/dependable engine operation.

The last repair was a new harness and a slight re-work of how the harness is routed over the engine. I am on my third harness. There is an after market tbap harness available. However, I have not tried that yet. The problem I have seems to be linked to the effect of normal engine vibration on the delicate tbap wiring traveling over the top of the engine.

This the only electrical issue I have had with the machine. Hope this helps.

Sounds like what mine is doing too. 2011 800 also. The dealer changed the IAC and wires to it but it still acts up! The dealer is to cheap to change the harness on the TPS and T-MAP sensors under the extended warranty. Let me know if you find the culprit. Or I'll let you know if I have any luck

Put this harness on my 2011 and havent had any issues since. Its a MUCH better built harnes and plug then the stock ones. The Oem wiring in the polaris harness is to small wiring and breaks due to the vibration.

I just ordered the OTB harness. How difficult is to install? Any suggestions? Thank you.
Not hard at all. Just follow the instructions it comes with to cross referance the wire colors and once you crimp them together you just plug it in. Probably about a 10-15 minute job.

Update:

My Dealer replaced the wiring and the plug going to the TPS. I was able to locate this as being an issue by wiggling the wires near the plug (thanks to great advice from this forum!!). I was able to show my dealer that this was causing the ranger to idle up and down. I have not installed the aftermarket tpab harness yet but I do intend to soon. I am taking the ranger for a long test ride this weekend to see if the tps wiring repairs corrected my issue.

Thanks to everyone for their help! I will post the test results after the weekend.
