My 2 cents on Purolator oil filter substitute. On my old single cylinder 500 Polaris, I used a Purolator filter. After several months on one oil change, I almost ended up nuking an engine because the oil filter gasket blew out in one area and dumped the oil. I didn't realize it until the engine started clattering real bad, so I stopped and checked everything and then realized the oil was almost all out. Anyhow, it may have been, or may not have been, because the shop who changed the oil overtightened the filter, but personally, I would never risk using a Purolator filter again.
