I talked to the dealership today, They have finally came to a problem for the no start, and a few other issues i have been having. It seems that the speed sensor was throwing bad info, with the engine off and the key on it was showing that the machine was going 24 mph. So the computer showed that it was running and moving and leaned the computer way down. This would also explain why i would have issues with it running different at certain times. So they dont have any on hand but there should be some available the 20th of feb.. So i hope that does the trick, it sounds crazy.
I guess this makes sense. The speed sensor caused issues for some with the EPS but maybe some of us have one that's not quite so bad. Not knowing what type of sensor is being used it is possible that there is a "gapping" issue where when cold the gap is increasing? You would think that the ECU would do a quick check at key up to verify the operation of various sensors.

I've had a notion that at times the punch just wasn't quite there with mine, but not consistent enough to get a handle on it.

I have noticed the same on mine when it is cold out, sometimes it will scream and other times it is a slug. Not big enough difference for my wife or a passenger to notice but night and day difference to me.

Well they finally got the new speed sensor in yesterday, (they have been on a forever back order) I took it up and they put it in.

I left it out last night, it got down to 10 degrees and it will not start this morning           ...So I called them back and they are gonna call polaris and start all over.

Very discouraged right now!

I'm glad to see that mine isnt the only one with the power flux issues too. I will keep posting on what comes next,

Yea what a joke is right!!!
I have been with out this thing for a full month, I wish they would extend my warranty for at least my down time! I did get the extened warranty also.

The tech told polaris that they need to come get this thing, bring me a new one and figure this problem out in Minnesota.!!! And I agree!!

This sucks!!!

So I got a call from my tech today, he put the call into polaris and they are gonna send the case info over to engineering. so he suggested that I call customer service to express my frustration.. So i did, I told the lady on the phone about what is going on and how i have been without the machine for a month or more, and that I understand they are trying but they are not fixing the problem. Of course she says how sorry she is and that she understands, wow, i feel better. I asked if they could atleast give me the month back towards my warranty, and of course she says that the dealer is gonna have to get the ball rolling on that to. So I told her that I have bought 11 new machines in the last 10 years and that I want them to take this thing back to Minnesota, figure it out on there time and get me a new machine that I can ride.. She says we dont have a buy back program we just fix your machine, and I said that would be great if they fixed it!!! So customer service was a dead end, I'm sure glad I have other options to ride, this really stinks.

Might be time for a change in brand!!
I hope someone from Polaris monitors this site!! Come on POLARIS I have been a loyal customer, Help Me OUT!!

how you feel! When I bought my 06 ranger it was in the middle of the year when they went to fuel injected. Dang thing would blow the top off the intake. The TPS wasn't set right. They spent over 6 mos and 2 dealers trying to fix it. Come to find out the ECM was programed wrong and my dealer had the wrong program on his cumputer.

Polaris was worthless on fixing it.

Finialy reprogramed it with the right one and it ran fine but never had the power it first had.

I think this is still a programing issue in the computer, and so does the tech at the shop, but polaris is the one who built it, and they dont seem to concerned on getting it fixed in a timely matter!

This is where I believe that a "Good Dealership" should step in and "stepup" for the customer. Especially for someone like you (Ron) that has bought so many machines.

Not so sure its a programming issue or everyone would have it.

I can say that mine seems to start fine in the cold. I haven't started it in the real cold (-25c) but I have started it below -15c once or twice and it was fine.

Like I said at an earlier point in this post, one of our local dealers leaves their units outside all week and then starts them at the end of the week to move them in a locked building. They have 10 XP 900s in stock. They told me they have no problem ever starting them. Its been pretty cold here all winter, many weeks below -20c.

I feel bad for you, but I think you might just got unlucky and a particular component (that is hard to diagnose) is bad.

I hope Polaris comes to the table and does something for you.

Sorry guys i was just venting, I hope they step up and get this taken car of..

I'm beginning to second guess my decision to not take machine to dealer yet. I figured there would be a cure and I could take mine in later. Of course now it's warming up outside and may be more difficult to replicate.

yea thats getting to be the problem here, its gonna be a year til we know if its fixed or not, they seem to have no clue on this one.

Well the cold start thing will have to wait until next year I guess...

Funny you should post today!! My dealer called today and said polaris finally thinks they have a fix. They admit they have a problem with some. They are shipping out a reprogramed computer this week. So they are aware they have a problem so you might want to contact your dealer and get the ball rolling.

Thanks for the heads up. I dropped an email to the dealer that I would like to do the service and if he does not respond I'll go to the selling dealer. Getting close on the 6 month warranty.

My warranty was about up so i did get the extended warranty and i'm glad i did, I now hear they are having problems with something not shifting right, I do notice having troubles getting mine to hit the mark at times. And i also snapped a right front cv joint in moab. The tech said since the boot wasnt tore he would cover it. If it wasnt for the incredible ride this thing has i would get ride of it and keep my 800.

I'll do the extended too I guess. My servicing dealer called today to confirm that there are a small number with the cold start bug and that they are working on a fix that involves ECU programming. This fix is still being refined and there wasn't much he could get out of them regarding what would happen next year when it gets cold again and it's outside of warranty so I'll do the extended.

My dealer told me that Polaris is very good at fixing known issues even if your unit is off warranty. They assured me that the issue would be fixed if it exists on my unit.

Would be a shame if I had to spend $1700 on extended warranty to fix a known issue.

Mine sat out overnight Saturday. Sunday am it was in the teens. Started, ran 3 seconds and stalled. Key off and on started agian and it stayed running just fine.

I popped for a 3 year Polaristar for $620 as I recall.
